Gen. 19:17: "And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed."
V. 24: "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;"
V. 25: "And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground."
V. 26: "But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."
Lot's wife looked back seeking to save her life and lost it. GOD had provision to save her life. All she had to do was let go. Instead, she chose to hold on to the life she had back at Sodom and Gomorrah. Had she just given that life up, had she been willing to lose that *old* life, she would've preserved her life to start *anew*.
It's the same with us. Which is why Luke 17:33 states "whosoever". Whosoever, not just Lot's wife. We *REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE* as an example of what not to do. Lot's wife had a command from GOD's Angels and she disobeyed. She looked to the world because she loved the world. We must understand: once GOD gives the command we must follow it through. We can no longer look to the world. Looking to the world will cost you your life! We must look to GOD. We can't save ourselves. JESUS CHRIST must save us! Then, and only then, will our lives be preserved.
