Context: This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and all the brethren which were with him, unto the Churches of Galatia (Gal. 1:1-2).

Definition for *VAINGLORY*:
Excessive elation or pride over one's own achievements, abilities, etc.; boastful vanity.
empty pomp or show.

Galatians 5:26: "Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." In being showy (vainglorious), you can easily provoke others, or make them envious of you. Which is why this Scripture states for us not to be this way. There's a great difference from being blessed and thankful unto the LORD for the things you have, than from being boastful about things that you own that many desire to have. A testimony of how GOD blessed you with a new car, shouldn't be presented by you bragging and going on and on about how much stuff you have. That can get on folks' nerves. But this thing goes both ways though: the person who's thankful to GOD shouldn't be showy and vainglorious; but the person who witnesses another's blessings shouldn't be envious, but should rather rejoice with those who rejoice (Rom. 12:15: "Rejoice with them that do rejoice…").
