Scripture Post #448: *FLESH CRUCIFIED*

Galatians 5:24: "And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."

Galatians 5:24
Easy-to-Read Version (ERV):
"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do."

The flesh (used in this context) is not the natural body. Because if it were, then once crucified, how would we still be here? And to crucify the flesh isn't a metaphor. This thing is real. The flesh is where sin dwells. You Cannot sin without the flesh. Sin needs the flesh in order to function. A list of various sins are stated in Gal. 5:19-21 as the works of the flesh. (Gal. 5:19: "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,"
V. 20: "Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,"
V. 21: "Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.") The works of the flesh being various sins shows us that sin is a result of being in the flesh. Which is why we must die to the flesh in order to be free from sin!!

Rom. 6:1: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?"
V. 2: "God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?"
V. 6: "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."
V. 7: "For he that is dead is freed from sin."
V. 11: "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Col. 3:9: "Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;"
V. 10: "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:"

Luke 9:23: "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."

Gal. 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

There's a whole lot more to this, and plenty of more Scriptures that further explain it, but this is enough of a nugget to chew on for today.

In closing, living sin-free is attainable. For with GOD, all things are possible! How is it that we'll believe GOD for our riches where finances and prosperity are concerned because "all things are possible", but we won't believe we can "sin no more"? Did JESUS say, "All things are possible. Oh yeah, except for where sin is concerned"? No.
Mark 10:27: "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."
