“Powder” (1995)
Kurt Doin’ Work here. Listen. I’ve been in so many situations that had me looking silly, different, stupid and out of place. I’ve been the misfit for speaking the honest, authentic, truth, so many times. I’ve never really fit in, in social crowds. And to be honest, I never really wanted to. Don’t get me wrong. I love people. I just don’t love to be in people’s circles and clicks if it costs me my honesty. So many times. So many times! I would’ve fit in if I just played the game like everyone else did. When the universal-social-cue signals you to give the façade, you give the façade. When it’s time to smile, you smile. Even when you don’t mean it. Especially, when you don’t mean it. You laugh sarcastically in a heated dispute to appear calm when you really aren’t. You hypocritically tell others to not let it get to them, while you cope with what got to you via substances and other things that make you feel good behind closed doors. You tease others for sharing their dreams with you. When you should’ve been honored to be picked — to be chosen to have them share anything with you at all. I came across a scene from a movie. A movie called Powder. This scene was me in a nutshell; and is currently my favorite scene from any movie I’ve ever seen in my life. And then I found a second scene from the same movie. The second scene displayed the effect of being suppressed, the power that we really have that others aren’t aware of, truth unleashed, and so much more! I’ve combined these two scenes together.
