JESUS is speaking here (Luke 6:40).
Luke 6:40
Easy-to-Read Version (ERV):
"Students are not better than their teacher. But when they have been fully taught, they will be like their teacher."
Luke 6:40
Amplified Bible (AMP):
"A pupil is not superior to his teacher, but everyone [when he is] completely trained (readjusted, restored, set to rights, and perfected) will be like his teacher."
We are disciples of CHRIST and are to reflect HIM. (Hence: "…Shall be as his master.") JESUS said, "He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me." (Matt. 10:40.) So we represent JESUS and JESUS represents GOD. So let's not be infatuated with men who preach or sing about JESUS. If they truly represent JESUS, then they've denied themselves, taken up their crosses and have followed HIM. So with self denied, all that's left is JESUS, not the man or the woman. After all: "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master."
