Scripture Post #351: *POWER-WORD*

Luke 4:31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

You ever have a conversation with a boring person? You feel absolutely nothing when they speak. And the only thing you feel if you do feel anything at all, is sleepy. On the other hand, you ever speak with an over-the-top enthused person? What do you feel then? It's like their excitement is contagious, isn't it? We are beings of energy. We emit energy in the things we say. We have power in our speech. (Prov. 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.") JESUS' WORD "was with power." JESUS was/is Anointed. HE was/is Holy. HIS WORD that HE emitted that day, shook things up—it released things in the atmosphere! We have power like JESUS to affect our situations, the people around us, our destinies, etcetera. I believe that when JESUS spoke, the people "were astonished" not just because what HE said was astonishing, but because HE emitted astonishment in the atmosphere, and released power into the people, to the point where they felt HIS power. Just like you can feel power emitting from others when they tell you something sad, cry on your shoulder, and you end up with the box of Kleenex on your lap. Or when you're in an argument and you feel intense anger emitting from the person screeming atcha! Or when a comedian emits laughter from himself onto the audience to the point where the place is filled with laughter and happiness! 

You really don't believe your words have power? You better wake up.
