Context: This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and Timothy, unto the Church at Corinth (2nd Cor. 1:1-2).

2nd Corinthians 5:8-10 go together.
(V. 8: "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
V. 9: "Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him."
V. 10: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.") It's basically like this: V. 8 is like: we'd rather be with GOD in Heaven than to be here on earth, stuck in our mortal bodies. V. 9 is like: but we *strive* to be accepted of GOD, whether here on earth, or there in Heaven. Then V. 10 is like: Continuing from V. 8 (we'd rather be with GOD) & V. 9 (we *strive* to be accepted of GOD no matter where our state of being lies), we *strive* because "we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ." We will be judged; therefore, we *strive* to please GOD in order to be accepted by HIM!
