Scripture Post #300: *UNMOVABLE*

1st Corinthians 15:58: "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

Context: This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and Sosthenes, unto the Church at Corinth (1st Cor. 1:1-2).

Now, you know that no one starts off a sentence with "therefore," unless they're referring to somethin' that happened before that sentence. This is why further context is helpful.
Further context: This Scripture was stated after the verses before it which were dealing with death and resurrection (1st Cor. 15:35-57).

"…Be ye stedfast, *UNMOVABLE*, always abounding in the work of the Lord…" I love that! Unmovable. Wow. I will not be moved in the work of the LORD! If someone pushes someone who's unmovable, the unmovable one stands unmoved. To be unmovable is to be dependable; to be consistent; to have standards. It means to stand firm. It means to not allow others or situations to have you change—you're unmovable. I'm stayin' right here! And lastly: "…Know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

These 2 Scriptures really go together; to have one without the other is to have partial understanding of the Scripture as a whole: 1st Cor. 15:57: "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
V. 58: "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
