Scripture Post #231: *CENTURION BELIEVES*

Matthew 27:54: "Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

Context: This is right after JESUS died on the Cross and the veil tore. (Matt. 27:50-53.)

Some may read this Scripture and find it very insignificant. But what I see is profound: 

The Centurion and those with him (all unsaved) saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, and said, "Truly this was the Son of God." Now, the Chief Priests witnessed the same, and believed not! The Chief Priests were believed to be very close to GOD, yet couldn't perceive that JESUS was the SON of GOD! But the Centurion did?!?! Do you see why I see this as profound? I don't want the world to see JESUS come back and say, "Truly this is the SON of GOD(!)" while we (the Church) sit back being too religious not to perceive what those who are without CHRIST perceive!
