Scripture Post #198: *OWE KINDNESS*
1st Corinthians 7:3: "Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband."
Note: This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and Sosthenes, unto the Church at Corinth (1st Cor. 1:1-2).
When something is due, it's owed. And Benevolence means to be kind and loving; wanting to do good for others; a selfless act of genuine love. So, "due benevolence" mentioned in this Scripture basically means to *owe kindness*. You owe your spouse kindness not because of anything they've done for you, but because of what GOD ALMIGHTY has done for you! His love overflows you: you've got so much of HIS love leftover that you have no choice but to pass it on to others (in this case, your spouse).
After all, how can we say we love GOD Who we haven't seen, and not love our brother/neighbor/spouse, who we have seen? ("If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" - 1st John 4:20)
