Scripture Post #79: *THE WHOLE CITY*
Matthew 8:34: "And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts."
Note: I'm not meaning to portray that the city in this Scripture was the city of Jerusalem; but rather showing the magnitude of the situation.
Also: Jesus had just cast demons out of 2 men (Matthew 8:28-32)
"…*The whole city*…" was upset with Jesus! So was Jesus wrong because the majority agreed He was? Absolutely not! Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [verse 14:] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." These Scriptures (Matthew 7:13-14; 8:34) state that the majority doesn't "rule". It's not about majority; and I don't believe decisions should be made out of "majority rules". These Scriptures prove that it's the direct opposite (the antipode) of "majority rules". So don't look at numbers; look to JESUS!
