Scripture Post #55: *JUDGING*

Matthew 7:
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Note: Jesus is speaking here.

I love this! If you read this the way I believe it's intended to be read, Jesus isn't telling us not to judge; He's telling us *how* to judge. (Don't stop reading right there, let me finish, please.) Jesus doesn't want us judging hypocritically, He wants us judging correctly. Jesus basically said, "How can you say your brother is wrong, when you yourself don't have it together and don't see your own current wrongs. First, get yourself together, then judge your brother to get him together."

Also, Scripture states that we are to reprove unfruitful works of darkness. (Eph. 5:11: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.")
